Where is my Code Builder window

Post by TheEek » Thu Oct 27, 2011 9:10 am

I've lost the code buider window, the dialog box that pops up when you click on one of the commands in the Command Locator tab. Also missing is that handy message near the bottom of the Editor that gives you the brief syntax of the command.

I've checked the menus, but I can't see where I turned it off (or even if is it possible to turn it off). Any Registry hacks or other settings, I can use to get them back?

Thanks

Have you tried:

1. In the Editor select the Tools Menu.
2. Select "Show Builder Pane" (make sure it is checked. If it is, uncheck it and check it again).

Yes, no joy. Also tried uninstall/reboot/re-install. Leads me to believe there is a registry setting causing this problem (the installation package still worked on my desktop).

Let's just clarify something - is this the full package, and not an enterprise runtime client installed by mistake? Only runtime clients don't have editing features (therefore no code builder).

If it IS the correct version modify this value in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MJTNET\MSched12 - EditorSplit

Set EditorSplit to something like 200

Aso, if the ShowBuilderPane value is present, set it to 0

Restart Macro Scheduler.

It is a full install.

Editor split = 109 (hex)
Show builder pane = -1

I changed both of these values to suggested 200 (hex) and 0 respectively, still not good.

I uninstalled it again, removed all traces from the registry (that I could find anyway), re-installed, still the same.

Edit: Wondering if there is some incompatability between my laptop and the software, which only apeared a week or two ago (can't be certain when this started). I still have a few older version, can keep degrading until I find a workable one.

Can you send us a screenshot? Or better, call in and we'll share desktops and take a look. I don't understand this. Be good to be able to see your screen and I'm sure we can sort it.

I'll try to find some time and call in.

When you click, you would expect the Code Builder to open

Image

During code entry, a list should open of available commands

The line below, "Show Command Help" should provide the syntax

Ah. I thought we were talking about the Code Builder pane. Well they say a picture is worth a 1000 words.

Ok, I suspect comdef.ini is missing. Copy comdef.ini from the Samples folder beneath the Macro Scheduler 12 program folder and place it in your main macro folder.

So usually you would copy from:

c:\program files\macro scheduler 12\samples\comdef.ini

And paste in:

My Documents\Macro Scheduler 12

Sorted.

comdef.ini is in the main installation folder, there are also 68 copies of this file in "my documents". However there should be a folder titled "Macro Scheduler 12" in "My Documtens", there was a file called this, but it didn't have any association.

I renamed the un-associated file and created a new folder and copied the comdef ini file to that. Now it's working as expected again.

Many thanks for your help
