IEAuto.dll Licensing

Post by TheEek » Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:03 pm

Hi,

Sorry if this has already been covered or is in the wrong place.

I was wondering what the limitations are for distributing IEAuto.dll? I have MS 11.1.10 Enterprise version, and I've created a script partly with Web Recorder. For the exe's to work on another users PC, I have to give them IEAuto.dll. Or is this wrong? If I'm correct, may I distribute IEAuto?

Thanks.

With each WebRecorder license you can distribute IEAuto.DLL on up to 5 PCs.

Thanks for the response. Just to confirm: With Macro Scheduler Enterprise, I can run compiled scripts on any number of computers. However as I understand you response, using Web Recorder: It could be just that my scripts are poorly written (and I hope this is just the case), but I found that if I don't use the LibFunc method, executables don't work correctly. Therefore I have to provide IEAuto.dll bundled with it the executables, which you state can only be provided to 5 PC’s.

If this limitation with Enterprise is correct, why then doesn't it mention this in the "Buy Now" section (http://www.mjtnet.com/sales.htm), under what's included for the enterprise version. There's no mention of this limitation of "Web Recorder & IEAuto.dll". However it is as you say, only a 5 PC license if you purchase it separately. Can you comment on this irregularity please or is this something I have mis-understood when compiling code from WebRecorder for mass distribution.

With enterprise you can use IEAuto.Dll on any number of PCs in the enterprise along with your compiled Executables.

Sorry for the confusion. The standard webrecorder license gives you a 5 PC distribution license.
