Advanced editor window is behind other windows

Post by billtubbs » Thu Mar 01, 2007 6:20 pm

I must have changed something because the Macro Script editor windows are appearing behind the other windows. When the editor is open the Main MS window ('Macro Scheduler 9.0') is inoperative so its impossible to move it out of the way!

How do I make the windows appear to the front?

Window priority:
-Macro Scheduler 9.0 (front)
- Macro (behind)
- Editor - **** (behind all)

Weird, I can't see why this would happen. Can you exit Macro Scheduler and restart and let me know if the problem persists?

I've found myself in a similar mess more than a few times

Open macroscheduler (show) from the sys tray icon
Maximize to full screen (if not already)
File
New Macro
Advanced Editor
Minimize the editor window

Now try to find it again

Since adv editor doesn't minimize to the task bar, and you can't minimize, move or resize the main window, you can't get to the minimized editor thingy to re-open it.

Hmm, but when I follow those steps the macro properties form comes into view forcing the main form to behind it and showing me the minimized editor icon. I'll keep trying to replicate.

But where is the minimized editor icon, is it on top of the main window? Or on an area of the desktop not covered by the main window?

If I'm smart enough to reduce the height of the main window and move it vertically so that there's visible desktop between it and the task bar, then when I minimize the editor I can still reach the minimized editor icon. But on a 1200 x 810 notebook the main window defaults to totally filling the screen, so the minimized editor icon is hidden behind it.

In my case the minimized editor icon was visible in front of the maximized main form atthe bottom left of the screen above the task bar

That's strange. As you can see from the error message on the screen shot the editor is open, but if the main window covers that lower left corner of the screen then the icon is hidden. This is XP.

Maybe it's vista:

That's the minimized editor icon in front of the main form status bar. This is after minimizing the editor, then hiding msched from the tray and then double clicking on the tray icon again.

Still the same for me in vista, it's under the main window BUT until I re-read your post I didn't realize that I could hide the main window from the sys tray icon - which neatly solves the problem because then the minimized editor icon is accessible :)
