No MS Icon in Task Area of Tool Bar upon System Boot???

Post by MGuyM » Tue Jul 22, 2008 11:14 pm

I have MS set to automatically load upon initial boot of my system and every time my system boots up, I can't find an Icon to "show" MS in from the Tray Icon Area (lower right corner by clock).

If I re-launch MS, it just shows it going to a Minimized State and I still don't have an Icon. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task Manager and then Kill the MSCHED.EXE program and then Relaunch it before I can access it.....

Why? How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Odd. Try setting Macro Scheduler to start after a small delay. There's a small util called after that you can use to do this:

ftp://ftp.mjtnet.com/pub/after.zip

So you modify the Startup shortcut to use after to launch Macro Scheduler after a short delay.

See if that helps.

Did you know we are now offering affordable monthly subscriptions for Macro Scheduler Standard?

This also happens to me once in awhile (Vista x64 Utimate) , perhaps once a month or less. I use task manager to kill and restart MS.

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for that. Since you shared the utility, can you also share a link to the developer website? I'd like to see if anything further has been developed since V 1.00.

I can't find much using Google looking for CoolTools and After... just one mention on a German forum. Is this quite an old utility? Perhaps the developer no longer has a web presence?

Thanks and take care

Not to go too far OT but if you are interested in a sophisticated startup and monitoring utility I can recommend Startwatch.

It is very old - I've had it in my collection for many years. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is no longer maintained. I'm sure there are similar utilities out there though. In fact one could make one very easily with a compiled Macro Scheduler macro:

Wait>wait_time
Run>path

Compile, it and stick it in Startup Folder with something like:

delaymacro.exe /wait_time=5 /path=c:\program...\....\msched.exe
