... .exe is not a valid Win32 application...

Post by Rain » Wed May 17, 2006 1:24 pm

When compiling scripts with 8.0.3 pro using custom icons I get the following error when I click on the exe to run it “"program_name.exe is not a valid Win32 application". When compiling any script with the Macro Scheduler default icon the exe opens without errors and the default icon is displayed which is not the case when I use my custom icons.

I reinstalled 8.0.1 to see if it had something to do with my system and all my custom icons can be added to the exe and the programs run normal without the above mentioned error.
MY operating system (Windows XP pro SP2) is installed on my D: drive and so is Macro Scheduler. I installed Macro Scheduler on my C: drive (C:\Program Files\MJT Net Ltd\Macro Scheduler) and get the same error when compiling scripts with my custom icons.

I hope the information provided is enough.

Thanks
~Rain

Nothing whatsoever has changed to the icon injection code between 8.0.1 and 8.0.3. Nothing at all. Zilch. Nada.

Can you email me a your .ico file?

Hi,

I have just sent you modified versions of your icons that work. Your icon files didn't have 256 color versions of the icons in them. Adding these ensured it worked.

This doesn't explain why it worked in 8.0.1 but not in 8.0.3. I am utterly baffled by that, as nothing whatsoever was changed regarding the icon injection code or the icon resource. I will therefore scratch my head a while longer, go mad for a while, sleep on it and see if at some point during that process I see the reason why the change has occured.

At least in the mean time you have icons that work and you know what to do to make them work.

Thank you for your quick and great support like always. :)

After adding the low resolution icons I can now run my compiled scripts without errors. That's all I care about and having to add the low resolution icons is really no big deal, they can be added in a matter of seconds.
