Over the last year or so I have been very aware that I spend most of the working day sat on my backside, and have also been reading about the benefits of standing up while working.
It seems logical that standing is better for you than sitting.
So I started this year with a new way of working. I bought myself a height adjustable sit-stand desk and since last Wednesday I have been working while standing.
Here's an article in Wired about the idea:

It has only been a week so far and time will tell. But so far I think I prefer standing and haven't felt the need to sit down. I can feel it in my legs but I think that's a good thing. I tend to move around a bit which is probably important and in fact is another good reason for standing - I'm a fidget.
Anyone else here standing at the PCs instead of sitting?

I have made it my habit to get up every 30 minutes and run a round. This helps me to think. Yes, and I also often nervous when I looking for a solution and some only have a limited time to find a solution. Running also helps me when I Make calls. However, if I could program an entire day in the stand to try I could do ..

I've been interested in a standing desk and the ones that go up and down aren't easy to make or they're pricey. I fear getting a standing-only solution as I don't know if my back will tire.
One good thing about having a dog -- I have to walk her at lunch, which forces me to get away from the screen. I also make it a daily routine to exercise, which is my lunch break so I eat at my desk.
For years, I've started my day with a cup of Joe and the newspaper, which I read standing up. Sure, I could use my laptop and put it on a higher counter, but then I'd really miss the dual-monitors that help me be more efficient.
