MSched and Linux.

Post by Ianw » Sat Aug 02, 2008 9:15 am

I did a search but found very little on this topic, so here goes.

I'm getting fedup with Windows so 2 weeks ago I got some distro's to have a look at. I was impressed by the vast improvements made since 2003 when I last looked at it.

I liked Ubuntu 8.04.1 the best so I got the x64 version.
then I heard about Wine and Crossover so I readup on them and Crossover seems to be more stable, and I downloaded the trial version.

My MSched 9.2 runs without a hitch, not a problem. I could only run 1 of my macros because they need modifying, that is, to find or save to new locations in Linux.
Many thanks

Good mail......

I have been using Crossover on my MacBook Pro for a while.

I don't get any problems either and run the latest Macro software.

The only one thing I can't get working is running a command, but I suspect thats because Macro Scheduler is not expecting to drop to a command prompt on Unix.

I am going to try running the beta version of Marco Scheduler next week and see how it goes.

Here is a link showing a simple progress bar running.

I would be intereted to know any other things you learn using Macro Scheduler in this way.

The global search and replace of path statements in Macro Schedulers editor might help you convert your script to put in the correct paths..
