I would like to use as a hot-key for a macro the apostrophe-like symbol that is on the same key as the tilde. (The tilde is the shift character and the apostrophe-like character underneath it is without shift). I don't know what the key is called, but I don't ever need it for typing.
However, when I try to set it up as a hot key, MS always adds an Alt in front of it automatically in the Hot Key field. It won't let me remove the Alt without removing the key as well.
Does anyone know if this can be done?

JRL's response is interesting. When I hit the backtick key *alone* (without Alt), my copy of MS still inserts the Alt.

What is your operating system? I tested XP and Win 7 using Macro Scheduler 14.1.0x and both give me just the backtick.
Can you delete the "Alt +" portion?

A reboot of my computer and now I can use the backtick by itself. Odd.
Thank you for the confirmation,

It's funny how many time the old "IT crowd" joke of "have you rebooted it" actually works.

Actually, Dorian, it's (in my bad British accent): "Have you turned it awf and awn?"
